Components

Performance. By design.

A proprietary blend of engineering expertise and premium quality components in every Timken® belt.

Every Timken® belt is developed from the ground up. We manufacture not only the belt but its components to assure that quality is built into every step of the process.

We design belts that can withstand unique challenges and the toughest applications. Our chemists and engineers analyze and create proprietary rubber formulations for ultra-specific applications.

Belts are engineered and built to tight tolerances to ensure reliability and performance in our ISO 9001:2015 certified technical center and manufacturing plants.

Made in USA

We mix our own rubber in our Springfield, Missouri facility. We have more than 3,100 belt constructions including proprietary compounds that increase service life and enhance performance. Cord is treated to tailor its properties for the different belts in which it will be used.

Performance is engineered into every Timken belt.
Some of the components include:

Advanced Polymers

Contribute to the amount of heat and flex required in the specific application. When combined with specific additives, fibers and enhancers, each polymer can be tailored to support optimum performance in a wide variety of applications.

  • Natural Rubber
  • Styrene-Butadiene (SBR)
  • Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM)
  • Chloroprene
Textiles/Fibers

Cord is the backbone of the belt and provides strength. Special fabric and fibers improve wear resistance and performance goals.

  • Pulp Fibers
  • Chopped Fibers
  • Aramid Cord
  • Polyester Cord
Additives/Enhancers

When combined with various polymers and fibers, these additives can enhance curing processes, heat resistance, belt flex, and other characteristics that impact the performance of the belt and help tailor that performance to specific applications.

  • Iron Oxide Pigment
  • Process Oil
  • Zinc Oxide
  • Carbon Black
Engineered Solutions

Through thoughtful engineering, the various components can be combined in infinite ways to specifically satisfy the demand put on different belts in different applications.

  • Overcoated Cord
  • Treated Cord
  • Clutching Fabric
  • Friction Fabric
  • Stiff-Flex
  • Rubber Blended Fabric

Behind every Timken belt is a dedicated team of engineers, chemists, technicians and craftsmen that take pride in everything they do. It’s their skill and dedication that have made Timken Belts one of the world’s leading suppliers of industrial belts.
